Ben Gahagen - Gahagen Photography

Honestly, I never liked taking pictures as a kid. My mother would give me a disposable camera for a Scouting trip and tell me to take lots of pictures...I'd forget (or not want to) and have to hastily take pictures of random stuff the last day. It just wasn't my idea of fun and I wouldn't put any time towards it.

Fast forward 10-12 years later to my sophomore year at James Madison University where I took a hike at White Oak Falls in the Shenandoah National Park. At the time I only had a cheap digital camera but I was able to capture an awesome (at the time), but more importantly, inspiring shot of a silhouette against one of the rushing waterfalls. I realized the creativity potential in photography and have made it part of my life ever since. I received my first (and current) DSLR camera in 2007 and have been constantly trying to improve my technique.

I present my photography as fine art and as you can see on my PORTFOLIO page the main theme in most of my images is nature. It will most likely remain that way, although I am trying to get into portrature and learn the different techniques associated with that.

I'm pretty active on the social media front - so be sure to follow or like me on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest for the most up to date adventures. Thanks for stopping by, refer your friends, and visit often!
